Hello! I'm New

Hi! I am new to this board and the adoption process. My name is Lauren. I am 25 years old, married and I live in West Virginia. After 3 miscarriages and diagnosed with a chromosome problem that effects our fertility we are looking towards adoption. I look forward to meeting everyone and learning about this process....especially the scams. i am terrified I will be scammed which has made me look at agencies with much caution. Hopefully this board will help with that too

Welcome Lauren!

One of the reasons we chose a private adoption agency with a good history was so we could trust the people we work with and avoid any scams. We didn't want to try using a facilitator or attorney (although MANY people here have had GREAT luck going that route) that might require us to solicit our own expectant mothers. Rather, we chose an agency who matched expectant moms with adoptive families (the majority of cases happen that the mother chose the adoptive family for her child.)

No matter how you do it, just be sure you really research your agency/facilitator/attorney and talk to others who've used them. The experienced ones will weed out the scammers for you.

(By the way, in case you aren't familiar with the rule here, we cannot discuss particular agencies/attorneys/facilitators. If you are interested in getting feedback on a specific one, just post the name, and ask people to PM you.)

We were married for 10 years before we adopted - I wish we'd started sooner! We've had a great experience, as have many others here, and we're almost all happy to share.

Good luck!

Welcome! Ask lots of questions and read everything! Good luck on your adoption journey. If there's anything we can do to help, just ask.
