Did you know your adoption tax credit is temporary
Hi everyone!
During my research about the adoption tax credit I found some information that concerns me as a future adoptive parent. Did you all know that our current tax credit of $10,000 is only temporary? It goes back to $5,000 in 2011. Congress passed to make it permanent but the Senate stalled the bill. At this point nothing has been done. This all started with hearing that the bill had been introduced by Congressman Harold Ford of Memphis Tennessee to increase the tax credit to $15,000. But I couldn't find the H.R. number to show that it had been introduced and to be submitted to comittee. As I checked more I found the only bill that is H.R. 1057 The Adoption Tax Relief Reconciliation Act. I am headed to Washington D.C. this next week. I have tried to get in to see several of my Congressmen and women and can not get in to see them. I encourage all of you to call, email and write your Congressmen/Women and Senators. However, there are many form letters to use out there but PLEASE do not use them. Congress and Senate do not like form letters. They want letters from you with passion and fealings from your heart to make a difference. Sorry this is so long to read and hope this makes you all as passionate as I am about this entire issue. Thanks, Michelle Last edited by dragonfly1234 : 07-11-2006 at 07:35 PM. |
