Hi,

I am a single woman aged 45 who is considering adopting a child internationally. I am also a breast cancer survivor. I am not yet out of the 5 year mark from diagnosis. Doe s anyone know if that would block me from adopting? What kind of health surveys do they do on prospective parents before you are accepted?

My husband got testicular cancer last year and was told by our agency that China requires 5 years clear of cancer, except in the case of breast cancer for women, in which case the timeline is shorter, though I don't know how much. We are now starting all over, and have found that African countries are more open than most- try Ethiopia, they seem to have more relaxed rules, for both cancer and single parents. Good luck!
