Married in Vegas?

Hello all. I'm getting married this summer in Vegas . With regards to a future home study, what should I make sure to bring back? We are hoping to start the process asap after the wedding. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

You just need the marriage certificate. After that, make sure to find an agency or attorney that doesn't require you to be married for 2 years before adopting.

Thank you both. I just want to make sure I have everything in order. Since reading these forums, I realize you can't be too careful about the mountains of paperwork required to get started.

We have the one that the minister signed and we also requested 2 certified copies from the state for our peace of mind.

Where are you getting married?

Well, Elvis is gonna be there! We are planning on the Graceland Wedding Chapel. And you?

For us, Vegas is cost efficient, speedy, and hopefully will be lots of fun. We decided that we are ready to adopt, and not too many want to work with those of us who are "living in sin". LOL

Awesome! We considered getting married by Elvis, but figured it wouldn't really go over well with the people who went with us!

We got married at the Canterbury Chapel in the Excalibur Hotel. It was wonderful! I'm so glad we went to vegas to get married as opposed to doing it at home.

Bubbette-
Excalibur is a great hotel, I ate at the buffet a few times while out there. YUM Just he & Iare going to visit Elvis. May I ask how far you are along on your journey? I feel as though I shouldn't even be on the forums because I have a little while yet. But, I've learned bunches here. And, I found an agency w.o./ the 2yr marriage deal - Yea!

Right now we just know that we want to adopt. We want to get as much of our debt paid off as possible so that when it happens I can stay at home. I wish we could start tthe process tomorrow, but realistically we still have another 3-5 years before we can really start anything.

This whole deciding to be a mom thing came out of left field, like a mack truck. I know that I would have a very difficult time waiting several years like yourself now that my clock is tickin'. Our engagement will be under 2 months, pushy broad that I am! We are thinking about trying to adopt a child(ren?) from the foster care system. (Well, I'm thinking of maybe more than one! LOL) Best of luck punching down your debt, that does take some doing, but boy will it ever pay off. Have you & dh been planning to adopt for long?

Heather
