My husband and I are very excited to have sent in our adoption application. We are from Alberta, Canada and we are hoping to adopt an older child (between 5 and 9 years old...a girl) from the province.

We have some steps to take before we can get a placement but we are very excited!

We will be taking the adoption class, getting our criminal record check and child welfare checks done.

I'm currently working on getting a photo book made for the child that is finally placed with us. A story about our family and what we are like!

Hello! Congrats on taking this first big step. We are also in ALberta, and waiting for a second child to join our family. Bug is 2 and came to us through a private agency. We are currently waiting with the agency again and as potential foster-to-adopt parents through the province.

We really enjoyed the parent prep classes. Even though we have yet to adopt through Children's Services, we have found them very helpfil. They were very intense, but we just soaked it all up.

It will be great to get to know you... PM if you have any questions. Our child desired is different from yours but the process of approval should be similar.

Hi, I am in the same boat as "TheQueen" I have my paper work started, background checks going through and am waiting on classes to start on April 24th. The wait seems soooo long from now to then. Then it will be hurry up and wait again. DH and I are trying to adopt a specific little girl in DE. We live in MD.
