It depends what country you are living in and what country you are citizens of.

It depends. DH was offered a job in China, and we looked into adopting from China while living there. We inquired of various agencies, and some did work with Americans living abroad. Every agency is different. You may not have a problem finding an agency that can help you while living in Western Europe. Of course, it will vary depending on the country from which you hope to adopt. A birthmom in the US wanting an open adoption may or may not be okay placing her child with a couple living outside the US.

My advice would be to figure out what type of child you want to adopt and from where you hope to adopt him or her and then contact agencies to see if they can work with couples living abroad. I'm not sure what the US immigration rules are for an American married to a non-American, living abroad and adopting, but hopefully an agency could help you with that.

Thanks Mimc !

We acturly careless about what type and what nationalty ... etc...
But since we are living at oversea and we also have a issue to teach 2 languages + Local language , It's probably better to adopt infant .

When you looked for agency from oversea , did you care about which state they are at ?

Also , how did you find the agency ? Did you contact them one by one ?

And , what was the point for you to check the agency is whether humanity agency or not .

I am sorry about so many questions . I feel that we are just wasting so many time for nothing these days ... It will be so much easier if there is the rates for each agencies and ranking that made by adoptive parent/s and possibly child/children ...

By the way , we lived in china too . We tried to adopt while we were there . But since they (agency in China) told us we have had to be there at least one year already and we have to be there 2 years after the adoption , we had to stop . We knew most likely we were leaving very soon at the morment .

Any way Thanks a lot for your tips .

Smile living overseas as well

Hi! We are in the process of adopting our second child while living overseas. I'm not sure if I can list adoption professionals names or not so you can pm me for more information. Don't get frustrated...it can be done, just takes alot of research and even more patience. I would love to chat with you.

Mary
