Smile Repost from General Forum: Anyone younger than 25?

Hi! DH and I are looking into domestic adoption, and while we found many families younger than 25 doing international adoptions, we haven't been able to find many doing domestic adoptions. DH and I are both 22, have been married for 3.5 years, and are looking to adopt our first child. He's in the Air Force, and I'm almost done with my BA in Psychology, so we will be able to provide our child a financially (and emotionally) stable home. Any other younger couples out there?

I was 21 when I became a foster mother and got my foster daughter. I am now 23 and will soon be adopting her. I think one of the reasons you don't see young domestic adoptive parents is because many private agencies have a 25 -50 age requirement. This is one of the reasons my husband and I chose to go through DFCS. Also your generally going to be adopting a child that really needs you.

Young couples

Hi, my husband is active duty Army. We were 22 when we decided to start our family. We went through a private agency and were placed within 6 weeks of turning in our profile. The birthmom who choose us liked that we were young. We adopted our 2nd child when we were 25. We hope to adopt again in two to three years. It can be done!!! You have to find an agency willing to work with you that you are comfortable with. I always recommend working with an agency that charges a flat fee, that way you know what your expenses will be. We did not pay for birthmother expenses either time. Our first adoption was under $10,000 aand the second was around $13,000. If I can answer anythign else for you let me know!!

Shy Bear,
What agency did you use? I haven't been able to find one that charges less than 20,000, if your lucky.
