Question Idaho Youth Ranch

Does anyone have any info on the Idaho Youth Ranch? My sister in law and her husband are considering them as an option for adoption. She is also wondering if there are any agencies who consider closed adoptions?
Thanks

I think the majority of agencies go with what both the hopeful adoptive parents want and what the expectant mother (or parents) want.

I do not know any information about the Idaho ranch.

I sent you a PM too. But, do your sister in law & her husband live in Northern or Southern Idaho? We are in North Idaho and they deal mostly with open adoptions, closed is a slim exception to the rule from what I understand.

I don't know anything about the Youth Ranch, sorry. But I do know that VERY FEW agencies have closed adoptions & very few BMoms request it. In fact there was just an article about that in this months issue of Adoptive Families.

Can't tell you about the Youth Ranch, but I beg to differ about the 'closed thing'. I believe you'll find that the 'closed adoption choice' does happen.....but that many agencies have made it a point to put their own agenda on 'what's acceptable and not'. True, you're not going to find them as often......but that's not to say it doesn't happen.
Semi-open is probably the most popular, but this type holds MANY differing definitions, for certain.
The main thing is to decide how much open-ness you're wanting to have...and be completely honest about it with an agency and/or birthparents.
The trouble is when couples feel so pressured into wanting a baby, they'll go for 'anything'.....and that's not fair to anyone.....

My best to you....

Sincerely,

Linny
