Hi these are just a few ideas. We just started our paperwork and are at the begining of the process. So we too needed a way to raise some money to off set the high cost of adoption.

1.We have asked all of our friends and family to give us money insted of gifts for birthday's anniversery,Christmas, etc. They were all happy to do so.

2.Save all of your change it may not seem like much but every little bit helps and can be part of your spending money when you travel. When our friends and family herd we are doning this they started to do it for us with their change.

3.We opened a special savings account at our bank and all of our extra money goes into that account. Travel checks from work, rebates, money from item #1 and #2 etc.

4. We are having a large yard sale that I have asked friends and family to donate all of their unwanted household items to (again they were all happy to do so).

5. We are reducing any house hold cost that we can for now and until the adoption cost have been paid. ie reduce cable, phone, cell phone, entertainment, eating out etc. (these were all a big sacrifice for us but we felt it was well worth it).

6.This may sound crazy it did to my husband but once we started it everyone we know is very excited about it and is looking forward to the event.

A spaghetti dinner it will cost us roughly $200.00 to put together and is a good way to get those you are closest to together and enjoy a good meal together. (Can you tell we are Italian LOL). We are going to have it in October and we are planning to have pasta, meatballs, galic bread, salad, drinks and dessert. red checkered tableclothes and all. We asked everyone we know to come if they would like to donate to our cause it would be $5.00 per adult and kids were free. So far we have 100 adults and 15 kids coming and all are going to give at least the $5.00 requested some are going to give more. And a bonous is that I have been offered alot of help to put it together from my family and friends.

Good luck

Hi, my dh and I are also just starting out and we are also having to do fundraising. So far we have opened a booth at a local flea market and sold stuff that we don't use and I make crafts so I've had pretty good luck with those. We are also planning on some hotdog sales....car washes..etc. If I can be of any help...don't hesitate to ask. Good luck!
