A friend of mine adopted from a bmom in MO, and she told me that the babe has to go into "foster care" paid for by the aparents and the aparents are allowed to visit just a few hours a day up there until the relinquishment is final. YIKES! It may not be that way anymore, though. They moved bmom close to them so they didn't have to do that.

The biggie is your homestudy, get that done asap cause it takes the longes of any part of the "pre"-adoption process.

when I looked up the adoption laws that was not on there. The only thing that it stated was that the right can be relinquishment after 48 hours.

My wife and I just finalized our adoption with our daughter who was born in St. Louis. We are from KS. In the St. Louis area they have a local rule that the baby must be placed in foster until the judge grants you custody. I was told this rule does not apply in all of Missouri. They placed our daughter in a facility that allowed us to visit from 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. The staff didn't really care when we there as long as we didn't spend the night it was fine with them. Our daughter was in foster care for 36 days before we could go home. The foster care facility charged us $15 per day.
