Hi. I am very new to the adoption process. My husband and I filled out our paperwork about 3 weeks ago and I spoke with one of the caseworkers today and was told that our sled investigation has come back and we are waiting to see if we can be in this months classes or next months classes. We know the child that we want to adopt. She is 10 and a woman that goes to my parent's church is her ex-foster mother's daughter in law. I have spoken to the ex-foster mother frequently and she keeps in steady contact with my hopeful daughter to be. My husband and I have been married for 8 years and we never wanted a baby. We felt we could influence an older child's life better. Today I found out that the child's mother is appealing the decision that her rights have been terminated. The child has been in foster care for over 4 years so I feel that this is a stall tactic.
