Hello all
I have been going through some past posts, and everyone seems so warm and welcoming .My name is Tara, and my fiance Gary and I have recently decided to go down the path of adoption. The idea of adopting a child is not a new one for me. I actually began to learn about it when I was 17, over 8 years ago now. I watched programs, talked to adopted children and adoptive parents, etc. I always knew that I wanted to have a large family and that this was a way for me to acheive that. We live in a large 2 bedroom apartment in Kamloops, BC Canada . It is lovely here, and a nice neighborhood to raise children. We have many pets: cats, a dog, rats, mice, hamster and rabbit (oh, and fish too, lol). No children yet, but our plans are to adopt an older girl or sibling group. I have called in to get all the paper work that I need to get started, through the Ministry. I am finding it to be an amazing thing, once the lightbulb goes off in your head, LOL! We decided not to have children biologically due to my health. I am type 2 diabetic and bipolar (Gary is bp too). To become pregnant I would need to be off of my bp meds for a long time, and I feel that looking after an infant is too much for us at this time. I used to work in many places - SPCA, Petcetera, owned our own petstore briefly, worked for a catering company, etc. I love animals and cooking, but like to keep it a fun thing, lol. I am not working right now, but that is ok too, I am having enough to do keeping our place tidy and comfortable. I already have plans to paint the master bedroom. We use that room as a storage room right now, so cleaning it out, painting, decorating, etc are my goals . I plan to paint the room in a light sky blue, using white shelving (the kind you hang on the wall), to decorate - give the impression of clouds. I have already started to purchase things to go into the room, so I am sure it will look great.Well, I should get going. Thanks for having me! hugs, Tara Last edited by sweetsisterfae : 02-14-2005 at 04:36 PM. Reason: color |

Hi Tara!
It is so nice that you have joined us! Best of luck on your adoption journey. It's really an emotional rollercoaster ride, but one worth taking! JJ |
