My husband and I would like to adopt a sibling group of 3 or more. Does anyone have any experience with this to share? Also, we have found that most sibling groups have at least one child in the teenage years. We are not opposed to adoption of a child this age, as I work with this age group every day. We both are about 26 years old now though. What, if any, would be the age cut off for us?

Hi,

It would probably depend on the state you are in as far as what age you could adopt up to. Here in Washington (through the foster care system) they want you to be 21 years older than the child (I believe). As 26 year old's, it is possible you could end up in a situation where a teen is more likely to make accusations, or where bounderies may be unclear to a teen, or where you simply won't have any "parent authority" over a teen since there isn't much of an age difference. That of course isn't always the case, just possibilities that were mentioned in the lisencing class to us.
We are in the process of adopting a 3 child sibling group, ages almost 10 mos, 2 yrs, and 5 yrs. We are 27 and 28 years old. I'd be happy to share any info on our adoptive story, it is wonderful to have them all, just let me know if you wanna chat. You can message me or email me.

I don't have any personal experience with this, although I know people who have adopted younger sibling groups. I would just like to say welcome to the forums!
