Hi there... My name is Jessie and I have a few problems. My birth mother has left to pennsylvania and I am now living with friends of mine. They would like to adopt me and need to know the costs and how to go about it. Is there anyone that can give me any kind of insight or direction??

You need to contact a good adoption attorney. The first step would be to have your biological parents rights terminated. That takes time so you will need to get started right away. Then once that's done, the family can adopt you. BUT you have to contact an attorney. It shouldn't cost more then a couple thousand dollars or so as long as it doesn't get contested and there aren't lengthy legal matters to add the fees up.

Welcome Jessie. My biggest red flag of concern is your statement that your birth mother left and you are living with friends. If she did in fact, pick up and leave, has she been reported to the authorities for abandonment? I am assuming you are a minor, and as such you need to properly provided for LEGALLY. I applaud your friends (and their parents?) for taking you in, but legally & medically, they are not responsible for you. Let's say you were involved in a serious accident and require hospitalization. I hate to say this term, but if you were a ward of the state, you would be covered. As of now, I don't know if you are. Have you lived with your friends for a substantial period of time? Been through individual or family counseling to deal with your loss or gain of a new family? I wish you all the best for a happy ending Please keep us updated on your situation.
