Due in August

My husband and I are anxiously awaiting the birth of the little girl who will be our daughter. She is due August 12. She will be our fourth child. Our eldest is a former foster daughter who is now 20, but came to us at 17. Legally adopting her wasn't an option, but she is ours just the same. We have a 9 year old adoptive son, and a 3 year old foster son whom we are waiting to adopt. We just really wanted to have a child that we would get to share every day with from the beginning. We got connected with an agency and were matched immediately. Suddenly here we are, adoptively pregnant as I like to say.
We are busily getting the nursery ready. We've never done this before, though we've had 15 foster children in 3 years. We always had to have children's rooms that would suit any possible age. We are having a blast doing the baby thing. Our daughter is Haitian, so we are doing the nursery in a carribbean theme. It's so beautiful, I want to move into it.
We've met the birth mom, and we are waiting for our second visit with her to be set up. She wants us in the delivery room, and she has invited us to even videotape at the birth. And, when the birthmom found out that I am a pastor, she asked if we could all go down to the hospital chapel together and have me baptize the baby with her present. I am very excited. And yet, it also feels so surreal. Someone else is pregnant with my child. It's weird. And, it is a gift. I wonder what I should do next to really be ready for this. It seems so far away, and yet I know she will be here before I know it.

I too am "due in August." We have prepared a nursery and are now just waiting, wondering what else to do to prepare for this wonderful little girl that is coming our way. It is our first so we have nothing to go from. I don't have any advice for you, just understand the stress, questions, worries, wonderment, love and craziness you are going through right now. Good luck. I hope all goes well for you.

Congrats to both of you! What an exciting time. Have you picked out names yet?

We can't decide on a name. I thought we had...Ebony Faith...but then my husband decided he'd rather go with Eliza Faith. I just don't like Eliza...no offense to the Eliza's out there. I'm thinking we might go with Faith for the first name since that is the only part we can agree on, and then we'll just have to come up with a middle name.

We're due in 6 days on August 5th! Our birthmother is such a wonderful girl. I have so much love for her. She didn't want to find out the sex of the baby so we will have a big surprise. We have a name for each though. Robert Logan or Robert Brigham (he'll go by the middle name) and Kendyl Naydine (she'll go by Kendyl and Naydine is my grandma who just passed away on June 15th of this year.) I can't wait!!

Taryn, how exciting not to know! Both our matches (1st one failed) were in the last month of pg, so they already knew and immediately told us as part of the initial meeting. I always thougt it would have neat to not know.

Good luck to everyone. August is almost here. All of you will soon be someone's mommy and daddy in no time.

Enjoy the sleep now while you still can.

We've had some wild times lately...birthmom went into the early labor this last week. We've been on alert since Monday, but it appears that we are back to waiting for Aug. 6. I just had my shower last night so we are all stocked up and ready to go. I am running out of patience however. I want to see my baby!

I know that this thread is a little bit dated but we too are anxiously awaiting the birth of our to be daughter. She isn't due until Sept 4th but is expected to be early. She has been 2 cm dialated since the end of July and they expect the baby around the 15th or so. I would love to hear from others who are in the same short term waiting game as us. It is so hard sitting here. We are in BC and our agency is in Maryland. It is a full day full of flights and layovers to get us there but when the time comes, I don't care what we have to do as long as we get there to see that baby (Jayda Elaine) is happy and healthy!

WOW our baby's due date is this Friday August 20th.

We are very excited and nervous. We are waiting to hear from our attorney. We have reservations to travel on Tuesday. We are coming from half way around the world 17 hours of just flying time with 3 stop overs. We would rather get there relax, recover from jet lag too and be ready for the baby to come.

I've been a bit stressed waiting to hear something but today my horsescope said:

"Don't get lost in the future when you need to stay in the present. There is a lot happening and a lot to take into consideration. Chill out and have faith. Time will iron out the creases. "

So I've just chilled out at home today, crocheted a beautiful purple hat/cap and just relaxed. It felt good. I hope everyone enjoys their weekend!!!!
