Adopting 18 y.o. in FL

We are looking at the possibility of adopting an 18 year old who is currently living with us. Is this possible in FL? What steps do I take to get the process going?

an 18 year old? I don't know if adoption is the same for an adult... Is this a child with some issues, that cause him/her to be a dependant? If this is a child who can be self sufficiant and your goal is to give him/her a lifetime family I think It is possible for anyone of age to legally change their name and decide to be a part of your family?

Yes, the child is still in last year of high school, unable to be independent financially yet, mother unable to care for him. We'd like to benefit him with full citizenship rights as well.

hummmmm, I think you need to talk with an attorney as there are some issues I don't know if anyone other then an attorney could help you with.
