Question Questions about out-of-state waiting child adoption in KANSAS

We have been searching all of the photolistings online for waiting children, and have found more than a couple in Kansas that we like.

Our SW said when she contacted them that they wouldn't talk to her..... we have to fill out their app and work with them directly. She also said it didn't sound like they do Purchase of Services either.

So what's the story? Anyone with any ideas on Kansas adoptions?

I got the app in the mail this weekend, and I plan to call them today to talk about this stuff... just curious about any "been there, done that" stories though.

Thanks in advance.

Interesting...

Let us know what they say!

P.S. A non-profit adoption agency (like the one we went through) would be able to get a child out-of-state, but I know that state agencies are different that way.

I have talked to them....

Unfortunately, the only way we could work with them would be to have our homestudy. That would be $2000.

Oh, and they aren't adopting kids under 8 to out-of-state families.

So, no go in Kansas.

Sorry to hear that...

I remember looking at the photolistings on the internet hoping to adopt one of the precious children I saw. My sw told me that the children that get on the photolistings are the ones they are having a hard time placing for some reason or another. He encouraged me to stick with the area we're from - it does make things easier all the way around, but doesn't make the wait any easier!!!

Our daughter was living in foster care only 1 1/2 hours from our home!

Take care Sharel!

Our SW has encouraged us to look at all of the states... she herself adopted 2 brothers from South Dakota! But she also says that in-state adoptions will be the easiest. So, we are looking everywhere, but keeping special attention on PA.
