Hi Everyone,

Sorry it's taken me so long to get here but it's sub-contractor payday today so I'm really busy. It's been a hectic morning, but oh well, I'm going swimming in and hour so that'll be nice and relaxing.

Yesterday was a holiday here so I didn't work, I just cleaned my house and visited with my sister and cousin. Stacey went fishing with my brother-in-law. It was a nice relaxing day off!

Cathy, It's funny that I won since everyone was hoping I would. I haven't gone shopping yet but I'd better go soon cause the money is burning a hole in my pocket. LOL

Marie, I hope everythings going allright in your family. It sounds like your grandson is keeping his spirits up and that's a good sign. Your husband must be a saint, that was very nice of him to make supper. I'm still praying for you guys. Hope you have a good day.

rahulsmom,

You're not butting in! I love it when I have new people read and join my journal. Thanks for sharing your story, it was a great one. You and your son are lucky to have found one another. The poor little guy, sounds like he had a rough start. Are you guys trying for another one?

Jess, sounds like you've had an eventful couple of days. Isn't it nice when something breaks and you think it's going to cost hundreds to fix and then it's only a little bit of money! That's the best feeling ever. (Well I guess it would be better if things just didn't ever break but that never happens!) Oh ya and thanks for hoping I win! I think all your guys' hopes must have worked. And I agree with you about people having the money but Regina put it the wrong way. By no means am I rich but we are living and not starving. I wouldn't bring a child into my house if I didn't know that he/she would be well taken care off and I know that you weren't saying that so I guess I'm glad we have the same outlook on this. LOL, I could go on forever but I'll stop there. LOL LOL

Well, I'd better get going, I gotta get my work done.

Stacy

Let's Get to Know Eachother

Hi Sherry,

Welcome to my journal, hope you enjoyed all of our posts.

Hey All, I thought that it'd be a good idea to do one of those "Let's Get To Know Eachother" Quizes. I'll start. lol lol (I'm so funny) LOL

1. Where do you live?

Whitecourt, Alberta

2. What is your job?

Administrative Assistant/Bookkeeper for my dad's trucking company.

3. How Many Kids Do You Have?

None yet, but hopefully soon!

4. What's your favorite:

Song: Way too many to list, I'm a music freak.

Band/Singer: Dixie Chicks and Fleetwood Mac

Movie: Antwon Fischer, Grease and Dirty Dancing

5. Chocolate or Vanilla?

Depends on the day.

6. The Most exciting Think that ever happened to you:

I think it would have to be when Stacey proposed.

7. Favorite TV Show:

Friends, ER, The OC, CSI, and Survivor

8. Are you married or single?

Married (happily)!

9. Most embarrasing moment.

One time when I was about 16, my girl-friends and I went skinny-dipping at the lake and these guys we know came and stole our clothes. It was very embarrassing!

10. Favorite Smell

Outside after a good rain and my grandma baking bread.

Okay, I think that's good for now, I'll post more later. Hope everyone has fun.

Stacy

Oh Stacy, you ARE funny! Ok, let's see how this goes...

1. Where do you live?
Salem, Oregon

2. What is your job?
Farm Appraiser based in Salem, but appraise all over Oregon - I work mostly from home so I can be with Kaden. I appraise things like dairies, vineyards, nurseries, grass seed farms, ranches, etc.

3. How Many Kids Do You Have?
One 5 1/2 month old son by adoption (who by the way I just discovered has two tooth-size lumps poking through from his bottom gums!!!!!! No wonder he has been fussy for the past day or two! I can NOT believe my son is about to have teeth!)

4. What's your favorite:
Song: Too hard, too many...but some of my faves are "Home to You" by John Michael Montgomery, because my husband and I danced to it at our wedding. Or, "carrying your love with me" by George Strait, because in college I spent a summer in Ecuador studying and my husband (then my boyfriend) said he always heard that song that summer and thought of me.

Band/Singer: once again, so many! Sara Evans, Faith Hill, Third Day, - my favorites tend to be christian and country, but I like most everything...oh, and I love American Idol! ha! Stacy, do they have that in Canada?

Movie: Shawshank Redemption (though Antwone Fischer was a good choice as well!) Also love everything with Bing Crosby & Fred Astaire!

5. Chocolate or Vanilla?
ALWAYS CHOCOLATE - ALWAYS!!!!!!!! Puhleease - is this really a question?!!!!!!

6. The Most exciting thing that ever happened to you:
The birth (and adoption) of our son/ bringing him home

7. Favorite TV Show:
Friends and Survivor (in my eyes, the only good reasons to even turn the television set on!)

8. Are you married or single?
Married (happily)!

9. Most embarrasing moment.
Very tough??? Oh I've got one! When I was young I went with my parents to some kind of concert and they had made a men's restroom into a woman's restroom for the event, and I remember staring at the urinal after I had gone to the bathroom and wondering how in the world I was supposed to wash my hands in it - then my mom grabbed me and took me to the sink and other ladies standing in line were giggling. I was mortified, because I realized what it was, though I hadn't ever seen one before.

10. Favorite Smell
My mom's cinnamon rolls or when my husband wears the cologne he wore when we were dating - ahhhh...the good memories. Isn't it amazing how smells just totally take you back to a special time and place?!

Jess: Congrats on Kadens two teeth (well almost teeth) .. hope they come all the way through soon.

Band/Singer: Reba

Movie: Dirty Dancing, Forrest Gump and Braveheart (I like lots of movies too)

5. Chocolate or Vanilla?

The smell after a rain or the smell of the ocean.

Did I get them all?

You all asked to be kept updated about my grandson .. just wanted to let you know that he has had a bad couple of days. The drugs that they are giving him are causing sores in his mouth and his joints and jaw to ache. this combined with the fact that he can keep very little in his stomach. He had a nose bleed last night and they are having a really hard time getting it to stop completely.

Please continue praying for him and my daughter. She has now camped out at the hospital and my granddaughters are staying with me .. so I am driving them to school and picking them up ... I thought getting my little ones and myself out of the house in the mornings was hard .. add two more and it seems to triple the time even though they are older and able to do for themselves.

Take care all. Hugs.

Marie

Marie, I'm sorry to hear that things aren't going so well. The poor guys has to go through dealing with his feelings and feeling sick and now the medicine that helps him makes him sicker. Geez, ya can't win for losing. Well, he's in my thoughts! Hope you guys are going to be okay.

Thanks, for doing the quiz! I love those things.

Jess, I loved your answers. They were so funny! You crack me up. Your job sounds so cool, I'd love to do somethin like that!

Cathy, Yoohoo where are you?????

Hi everyone else, things are fine today. Not much happening on the adoption front, things are pretty slow right now but that's okay, we're still dealing with everything that's happened in the last month. Tonight Stacey has bowling so I'm going for coffee with my girlfriend and then I'm going to go home and work on my scrapbook, I've been neglecting it the last couple of days. But I bought some stickers yesterday so I'm excited to do a page with them.

Does anyone else do any scrapbooking?

Anyway, Keep the answers coming. I'm gonna put up some more later.

Stacy

Cathy,

I love Kid Rock!!!! He's great. I am a music freak so I like everyone's music choices, I listen to a broad spectrum of music.

You made me laugh with your movie choice. That's my husbands and my cousins favorite and I hate that movie but they make me watch it all the time. They insist that I like it, maybe I should pretend I do so they'll quit making me watch it. LOL

Hello all,

Just hanging out at the house today. After Lexi gets her evening nap, I'm going to take her to the playground..Then cook dinner and then Tan..

Stacy..So glad that you won the money. You will have a great time spending it..I don't scrapbook. I'm not creative at all. When we did our profile for our agency, I gathered the pictures but my hubby did the scrapbook. I was amazed that it turned out so well. The agency said they loved it!!! I will still be praying that you get a little one soon. Don't feel bad about the little girl. God has something better in store for you..

Marie..I'm glad you are doing better. Still praying for your daughter and grandson..Bless his heart. Sounds like you have alot of kids right now!!!

I emailed my agency last night and H will hopefully decided this week who she picked. The only thing is this adoption will be alot of money. We can afford it but I don't know if I want to do it. It will have to be God..the expectant mom needs living and medical expenses paid..Oh well..Time will tell. If we are not matched with her, something else will happen soon. I just feel it!!!

Mckenna...Where do you live in MO??? Nice to have someone from my state!!!

I just about to put Lexi down for her nap..Be back!!!

Cathy

I don't know why I love Better Off Dead!!! It's just so stupid and goofy!!! I also like 16 Candles, and Bueller's Day Off!!! Just so many...

First, Marie - so sorry to hear how things are going...yikes. the poor little guy...I feel for him! And poor you - like it isn't stressful enough and now taking care of more children...how great that you are there for your daughter, but still, it must be tough!

Now on to the comical side:
Marie! Losing your bikini top! Yikes - that WOULD be embarrassing!!!

Stacy, yes I like to scrapbook - I am just beginning, because I don't care enough to scrapbook my own life, but I want to scrapbook for my son - atleast for the first year...so, I enjoy it, but don't often spend much time at it - I think I am too "slap it together" to be a true scrapbook queen, but I like it.

So, how far apart are you Marie in Manitoba to Stacy in Alberta? Isn't it pathetic how little us states' folk know about Canada? I bet it probably goes both ways, but still...once you get past BC (since that is the province north of us in Oregon/Washington), it is all greek to me...My husband's little sister is up at college in Canada - she is in Langley BC at Trinity Western Univ. - ever heard of it?

Glad you joined in McKenna! Good to have you! Come on Eileen is a VERY creative favorite song! funny!

Ok, Cathy, I really thought I had seen it all, but when you said you love Kid Rock, I about hit the floor - that is SOOOO not what I expected from you!!!!!!!! That's hilarious! Yes, he is pretty nasty white trash, but he does actually have a pretty cool voice...I hate the lyrics of that "picture" song he sings with Sheryl Crow, but I LOOOOOVE their voices in it...truly, I have heard it all now.

Oh and Cathy what is SAHM? Also, hilarious - I guess I am not the only one who has gone in men's public restrooms! ha!

Last, how does it work Cathy - you would just be out the money directly to this bmom - what if she changed her mind? I don't totally understand because we went through an agency and you pay a fee into their general birthmother support pool to help pregnant women, and it isn't specific to any one person, so that it doesn't matter what the mom needs, the agency covers it and keeps it separate from your dealings with any individual...I kind of liked it that way - seemed less awkward than her having to ask us for specific funds. Do tell...oh and why is H not on the state health plan? (As if it is my business!!! LOL!) Our son's bmom couldn't afford any medical either, but she was completely covered by the Oregon Health Plan...how does that work in MO?

Alright...I have babbled on long enough - this is the downside of my job, Stacy - I work at home most all the time so there is no one to keep me on task!!! And the forums are WAY more fun that figuring out the farm buildings and irrigated acreage of the property I am appraising! ha! (But yes, to respond to you - it is a WONDERFUL job - I absolutely love it - it is a great job for the amount of time spent for the pay...and the flexibility is unparalleled...I feel incredibly blessed.)

Bye all! This post is the most fun on the whole forum I think! I just rated it the best! LOL!
