Do you have any other info? Any names or social workers? If you know the name of the hospital or any social workers that would be a good place to start. Keep us updated. Hope we can help.

Here is some information that I hope can help you.

This is a link to the Georgia Adoption Reunion Registry. You must have a GA driver's license - which I am sure that you have - to utilize their services. You can begin by filing a Consent to Contact form, which means that, in the event that a member of your biological family also contacts the registry looking for you, you will BOTH be notified and that bio-family member will receive your contact information. This form must be notarized - you can have letters notarized at any local bank if you do not know anyone who is a notary. You can also request the release of your non-identifying information from this registry. There is a $35 fee associated with this service. It apparently takes a month or so. There is a form on the website that must be filled out & mailed in with payment - - when you click the link below you will be able to view all of their services and get more information, including the address and telephone numbers for the registry. Upon receiving your non-ID information you can also file a request to have a search done for your biological parents [I wish this was offered in NY, where I live!]. This, unfortunately, costs $300. I'd have to tell you, though - it'd be worth it [for me, anyway!]. Make sure you go through this website thoroughly; there is a lot of information available to you!!

Best of luck to you. I am going to guess that the social worker probably won't be of much help to you, seeing as your adoption was finalized 48 years ago. I'd contact the hospital where you born, too, and request non-identifying information from there as well as the state. If you were placed by an agency, contact them also. Have you spoken with your former foster families or adoptive family and asked if they have any information?
