My first husband, the father of my children, passed away 5 years ago. My new husband is a wonderful step-father to my boys and he wants to adopt them. Of course there is no surviving parent, so I assume it will be a simple process (I hope!). My question is: We are legal residents of Florida, but the boys were born in Maine. Can we proceed with the adoption in Florida, or do we need to go to Maine? Thanks!
