My ex-husbands name is on my daughter's birth certificate. He is not her biological father. We are getting remarried this month and we need to find the easiest way for the biological father (who does not want anything to do with her) to sign away his rights. It sounds complicated, but it really isn't. Everyone that i have talked to said it would cost alot of money, but if i could find out more info. on this maybe i could do most of the work myself. I just wanted to let you know that you can, in fact, handle your own adoption. It is not necessary to use a lawyer, especially if it's a step-parent adoption.

I have three children of my own and am in the process of adopting my wife's two children. We did all of the legwork ourselves and saved tons of money.
