Ok, I am trying to start the stepparent adoption process in Iowa. I want to adopt my husbands four year old son. His biolgical mother is in agreement and says that she will consent. I have contacted the law library and had them email me some info. I have drafted up some forms that are basically the same ones that the lawyers use, but I don't want to file them if they aren't up to standards for the court. Does anyone know where to get papers that I can just fill out and file? Can I get them at the courthouse? Any other information is also greatly appreciated. Thanks!

You can usually obtain the documents needed either from the courthouse that will be performing the adoption, or from your local library.
