My husband wants to adopt my 5 yr old. She thinks he is her dad. She has not seen her bio dad in almost 2 yrs and does not even remember him. He signed off all rights to her and said would not get in the way of a step parent adoption. We paid the money for a step parent adoption had the home study, and now bio dad's step mom calls the courts and said that bio dad is going to contest the adoption. What can happen NOW? I am so stressed out, I am not sure how I would explain this to our daughter, she only knows her last name to be ours and my husband to be her dad. I was just wondering if this has happened to anyone else? I am going to talk to a lawyer tomorrow. Thanks for any help.

In WA. Bio only had 48 hours to contact the court, he does have one year after adoption.
Have you tried contacting to court to see if he even contacted the court to try and stop it? They might just be messing with you. |
