NC step parent adoption
Has anyone ever done a step parent adoption in NC? If it is non contested how long will it usually take?
I saw a lawyer about this and he is starting the paperwork now, but I'm not sure I understood what he was saying. He said a home study could take up to six months? Is that right? I thought the longest the adoption process would be is 6 months from the time the petition is filed. I've been told since this is non-contested that it should be pretty simple.

NC step-P adoptions
I think the lawyer was being careful. I'm in an increasingly difficult process and it will take more than 6 months, but if the birth parent agrees I think it could be MUCH shorter. My lawyer said if it is straight-forward then it would only take 3 months.
