Step parent adoption
My 13 yr old son approached me last weekend wanting his step dad to adopt him. My husband has raised my son for the past 11 years. His biolical father is sadly no where to be found. The last time I had contact with him was almost a year ago and the last time my son has talked to him was over 6 years ago. He does not pay support. Can this be considered abandonemnt, and how do we go about the adoption when I have no way to locate him to get his approval? Any ideas????

depending on what your state says it can be considered abandonment if there is not support and contact or emotional support.

Toribe, I am in the same boat with my daughter. Oregon states that if the biological parent has been absent for 2 years then you can potition the courts for your husband to adopt you son.
