Wanting Step Father to Adopt

Hello, I am new to this board. I am trying to find out the process of having my step father adopt me. I am thirty years old and I am unsure if my "real" father will have to terminate parental rights ect ect... does anyone know besides getting a lawyer which I already plan on doing. What I will have to go through, how long will it take..ect..ect?? Thanks in advance for the help!

Hi Kristen, it is really easy in Illinois to be adopted by your stepfather. Because you are over 18 it is unnecessary to terminate your birth father's rights. If you'd like more info, contact me. Dana
