I am the mother of a boy that is eight years old. My new husband wishes to adopt him but his birth father is still living and resides in Tennessee but has no contact and has never paid his child support. Will the adoption process be difficult or expensive?

Also, my new husband has a daughter but her birth mother is deceased. Is it true that because I am married to her father, that I am considered legally to be her mother. Do I have to adopt her to be her legal mother?

We both love these children and we cannot have a child together. We just want to be a family.

How do we go about doing this, or is it even possible?
