Stepparent Adoption Questions
My husband wants to adopt my 3 boys. There biological father is 30,000 behind in child support, hasn't seen or acknowledged the boys in 4 years. Is there anyway I can do this without hiring an attorney, that is expensive and funds are budgeted right now. Also does he have to be in the same state to sign his rights away or can he sign them and send them back to me? Anyone information would be gladly appreciated. luvmybunch5@aol.com

Usually you have to go to court with an attorney. In your case it probably won't be very difficult to prove that the bio-dad is neglectful, because he is so far behind in child support and hasn't seen them in such a long time!!!! If your new hubby wants to adopt them and make it legal, it is money worth spent. Sincerely, Brenda....
