Adopting a child out of Virginia

We are in the process of adoption, and the lesson we learned is to follow up with all agencies. Don't assume each state agency has received or processed your paperwork. It also takes a lot of patience. Hang in there - the wait was well worth the work.
Also - depending on the agency you are working with, you will be encouraged to look in-state first. If you have selected an out-of-state child (or children), stand firm. |

depends on who you are working with
Bethany Christian didn't have any problems sending homestudies out of state....UMFS didn't send any homestudy unless the sending state was willing to pay purchase of services up front even though I had paid for my homestudy and was willing to pay for placement visit, etc...
Also, so states do not tend to place out of state. Missouri and Oregon are supposed to be good to work with. Missouri was way better then Virginia.. |
