Oklahoma Home Studies

Does anyone know how long a typical home study will take to complete when going through the OKDHS?

We contacted staff members from the SWIFT program but haven't received any replies yet.

I've been talking to DHS and was told that they have 90 days to do their home study, unfortunately I'm not sure when that 90 day time clock starts running, but they said the whole process should be done in about 4 months time and we should be approved to start looking for our new children.

Crytal- Sorry I've been slow in getting back to you. I had a pm about half done and got interupted, and then went out of town.
The friends I have involved with the SWIFT program right now, are really having a hard time getting calls returned and things done. I don't know if they are under staffed or what.
I know 2 families that are competely done with homestudies and PRIDE classes, and it has taken weeks just to get contact with the SWIFT worker. Then once they get approved, they aren't hearing anything when calling about making matches.
The homestudy itself is contracted out. It isn't done by your SWIFT worker. The length of time it takes will depend a bit on the contract person who does it. You can probably be done with the homestudy by the time your finish your PRIDE classes.

Hey there. It's no problem! I figured something came up.

But yikes...that's not encouraging to hear! My hubby and I are SO anxious to get everything started, so if I don't get calls back soon after my home study, I am going to be calling them A LOT. Lol.

But since the home study is contracted out, will we have to pay for it?

No, you will not have to pay for the homestudy.
