Not sure where to go for KY advice

I've been searching all over the internet and haven't been able to find what I need, so I'm hoping that someone can help.

My daughter's biological father completely vanished from the picture when I was 2 months pregnant. I haven't seen or heard from him and I"m not even sure where he's working or living now. His name is not on the birth certificate because if the parents are not married it is required for there to be either a. a DNA test or b. a signed form from the biological father excepting legal responsibilities and because I had neither, it is just my name on the certificate.

My new fiance and I plan on getting married sometime after he comes back from Afghanistan and he is more than ready to adopt her and give her his name. (He was there with me throughout the pregnancy even before we began dating and called her his even before she was born.) He comes home on his leave in September and wants to go ahead and adopt her even though we aren't married yet.

We're both clueless as to what steps we need to take and whether the biological father has any say in it since he hasn't even been in the picture at all and his name isn't even on the birth certificate.

Can anyone help?

I would suggest contacting an adoption lawyer and asking them. Good luck!

Try the State Attorney's office. They should be more than able to direct you to the right channels...

Good Luck, Tiffany
