New to this group w/ questions

My husband and I saw two brothers who are in fostercare on a photolisting from out of state. We inquired and have no idea what's all involved. We have a current homestudy for international adoption. How does state adoptions work? We're not looking to become foster parents...is this even possible? What are the costs? Thanks for any information!!!

Most agencies will not allow you to participate in two different adoption tracks at the same time (international, domestic, foster-adopt). You would have to change to foster-adopt track. The cost is almost nothing (the state covers it, ours cost $200 and we got a large portion back). Usually you have to become a licensed foster home (you don't have to take kids). Other than that I am unsure, we started with foster-adopt, so I am not quite sure about the change-over process.

We are in the same boat. We are in the middle of the paperchase for international adoption (homestudy being updated right now from our previous international adoption) when we ran across a domestic photolisting in another state. We are wondering what the odds are that we would ever even get matched with this child and if it is even worth our while to go after him with our homestudy not 100% updated yet, him being out of state, and our foster "stuff" (that I'm not even clear on just yet) not complete.
