by months! The nor'easter arrived on Saturday, just in time for our very first MAPP class. We couldn't go but they ran the class anyway and now we have to wait and see if the entire 6 hours ran or if they cancelled it after just 3 hours. They say we may be able to make it up if they called the class early but if the entire class ran...we're out of luck!! Being out of luck means waiting until possibly March to begin our classes. It also means 4 extra months that our child has to sit and wait for us to come together!
I am heartbroken about this and really hope that the supervisor understands how irresponsible it would have been for me to leave my 4 yr old here to attend a class over an hour away and drive in bad weather to find that the bridges have been closed and I can't get to my child! I really hope that they let us continue! Thanks for listening! |

Flooded the night of my first class
The night I was to begin PRIDE training through the county CPS office the city was under water. It had been flooding all day, but I was oblivious as my office was located two stories below ground - no windows down there. (Finally talked them into moving me upstairs ahead of the rest of the group just yesterday!!) Lucky for me the trainer called everyone and told us the class was cancelled. We ended up attending a joint class with current foster parents who were trying to meet the new state requirements. Somehow the extra few hours in that class made up for our missed first night. I'm not sure how that really worked as it was the same night and time we were scheduled to meet anyway.
During one of our classes we had a women from the weekend class who had missed a Saturday. They allowed her to sit in with us to make up for the missed time. Maybe this is an option for you. Hopefully they will be understanding and accommodating for you. Surely you weren't the only in the group unable to make the class due to the weather. Wishing you the best of luck.

Thanks, Heather. It appears we will be waiting until the spring. BUT, fate has dealt us a very positive twist...DH got offered a HUGE promotion and waiting would give up time to adjust to the new position if DH decides to accept it. Seems maybe there is another plan for us at this time and things will be ready to move ahead (adoption-wise) in a couple of months.
