Hi everyone!
I thought I would write and tell everyone whats been going on, while DH and I are in the process of adopting through our state New Mexico, We have our PRIDE classes in oct and Nov oct 27th nov 3rd and the 17th my birthday!! whoa!!! Well anyways we were just doing straight adoption but talked to the case worker today and she is really talking with me to do Foster to adopt I'm really scared about that, because I hear all these stories that these people get placed with a baby then taken out of thier home three or four weeks later or even less. I know this is the only way of having a chance to get a newborn to 3 years and she is honest with me that if we do just straight up adoption we will be waiting a very very long time because there is such a long list for children under 6 years My family is telling me if this is gods way of letting me take the chance to have a baby into our family then its not going to hurt to try, to open our hearts and home to these children and take it one day at a time, I know my family is right I just need some advice from some of you out there who have gone through this please! Thank you so much Sara

I am in California, but here the sw is right, the wait for straight adoption through foster care is very long and the reason being, they usually try to place young children in fost/adopt homes to spare them ever having to move when their case goes to adoption. That means that most people who take a "foster" placement as a fost/adopt parent will eventually (in a majority of cases BUT NOT ALL) adopt them, and rarely does a child become available for adoption without being in a foster home first, but it does happen. Also people do relenquish at the hospital without an adoption plan in place and that child is placed in a home, but usually it is a fost/adopt home.
I would trust God and whatever you believe in to place the right child in your arms and try going the fost/adopt route. :-) It worked for my daughter and I :-)
