we live in wake county and are about to finalize the adoption of our fosterson.
i know there are alot of nc folks out there,lets hear from them.

The visit went really well and we are going to spend the day with him next weekend...take him to new Harry Potter movie. The social worker said if all goes well, we will arrange an overnight. He is 11 and is cleared for adoption--yay! Congrats on finalizing the adoption of your foster son...I would love to talk with your more on that.

His SW emailed today that his Guardian ad Litem would be calling to find out more info on us. You have a licensing SW, right? It seems like our licensing SW and his Sw are on different pages though. I will PM. THanks for responding!

sounds good,we just saw that movie.a activity we like doing together is playing putt putt golf,do you think he might like doing that?we had several day visits then a few overnights and a weekend end visit before d moved in with us.he was legal risk,as tpr had not happened yet.we finalized one year after he was placed with us.i have sent you a email,hope you got it.

Hi DH and I just returned from the west coast, where we were placed with a beautiful newborn girl. Now that we are home, we have been told by the California agency that we could apply for adoption assistance for our daughter. Not sure how we would go about doing so. Our adoption will not be finalized until early 2008 at the earliest. We were wondering what type of assistance if any would be available to us until that time. Our local agency that completed our pre-placement and is scheduled to do our post placement, said that we would need to initiate this process ourselves, since they are only the receiving agency.
We have placed a t/c to our local DSS office, but we were only able to leave a message.

I do not know anything about how that works since she was not adopted in NC. Sorry! I do know that in NC you get a board payment (which is around $350 for a newborn), medicaid, and day care vouchers if you are a foster parent. If you adopt through the foster system, you receive the adoption payment (again, around $350) and medicaid is still available. What county are you in?

was this a adoption through the state,or a domestic adoption or private?usually only adoptions through the state can qualify for asistance,and only if child is considered special needs,which could be because of older age,medical problems,sibling group,minority race.
did you use agency here?they should be able to give you the info you need.good luck,and congrats on your new baby.

Momagain5, We are FP in Wake Co. also, who is your SW? We have been FP for 2.5 yrs. We have 3 homegrowns and 1 fs who we have had since 2/2/07.
I was wonderiing if anyone had heard about the decease in the number of kids you can have in your household now? It use to be 7 and now they are saying 5. Let me know.

From Ethiopia? I would love to hear what it was like...it is always really interesting to hear about international adoptions I think! The little photo by your user name is too cute! Congrats on coming up on 1 year, that must be super exciting.

Are there any groups in y'alls areas that meet? I am in WNC, so not near any of the areas anyone listed. I wish we had some sort of group here that met and got together. Kind of like the 'mommy' groups I see at the YMCA...except we are trying to adopt an 11 year old.
