NC newbie needs help
Hi. This is my first post here and I really need some help. We are working with a private agency for infant adoption in NC and in the course of waiting to be picked, a toddler in foster care has come into our path via a contact at our church who does therapeutic foster care.
Here's the catch. He is in custody in another state but is living in NC with relatives who have decided not to keep him. We have sent our homestudy (from the private agency) to both states involved and at first it seemed very promising. We were told "they" wanted to do something within the month and after a couple of weeks of waiting we found out a court date to transfer custody to our state had been set. The court date to transfer custody to NC was last week but now we can't get anyone to return our calls. Since we have been working with a private agency to adopt an infant, we're just not really sure how all the government beauracracy works. I'm hoping someone can shed some light on how all of this will work out. Should we realistically expect things to go quickly like they indicated?? Thanks for any insight anyone can give. |

Good luck
I dont mean to sound sceptical, but I cant get anyone to return my calls. My wife and I are foster parents in Alabama. I've got calls in all the way up to the governor. Even our president of the foster parents association hasn't returned my call.

SW's are so busy - which sounds like a huge excuse that seems irrelevant when your'e talking about a child's life but......call back, call back, call back. Don't be afraid of being annoying. Just be very polite and CALL BACK!

Thanks. That's kind of what we thought but we didn't want to make them mad by calling too much. I know we have to be persistant because it's not the child's fault he's caught up in this and he really needs for us to pester them to death (nicely of course). ![]() |
