Question Any Advice for Speeding Up Adoption Through Alabama DHR?

I'd love to hear from anyone who has advice for speeding up the adoption process in AL. I've completed all of my training classes, and turned in all of my paperwork. My social worker has been assigned and has visited my home and approved my home. She still needs to write my foster care homestudy and get it approved by her supervisor. Apparently, only after all of that has been done, can the adoption homestudy be completed. And apprently, here in Madison County where I live, there is only one person who does adoption homestudies and she only works part time. I'm really getting frustrated by the seemly lack of urgency from our DHR office. I'd love to hear from anyone who has had success in Alabama, particularly, Madison County.

I have adopted three through Alabama DHR. My foster care and adoption home study were all grouped together. No one ever mentioned having to have two home studies. The license is a foster/adoptive license. I would ask more questions about that. I have been a foster parent for almost four yrs now. I know that it can be frustrating. If you feel like you are getting the run around, I would call Montgomery and talk to somebody down there.

Thanks for the info Dottie4k. kbatesgomez and I both have been told that an addendum will have to be added to our foster care license. I will be asking questions about this but it is my understanding that we can adopt out side the state with this addendum. We both are wanting to adopt from other states. Although, if things work out right I am also willing to adopt within AL as well.
Where in our Great statw are you?

Thanks again K
