Anyone adopting through the state of MA???

We have just completed our homestudy so we can adopt through the Massachusetts Dept. of Social Services. We are using a private agency for the homestudy. Can anyone share their experiences in our state? I've not found one thread that is specific to our area.

Many thanks and blessings

We adopted through MA DSS. Bp dragged it through for every minute they could...getting in each & every visit but never working their plan. Just before TPR trials, ** relinquished, followed by bd a few days later.

We then moved to Phoenix and the finalization took 13 months to complete. I really had to kick them in the butt towards the end, but it eventually got done. Dd was supposed to have her medical bills taken care of by Masshealth. Never happened. Quit trying very early on...easier just to pay them myself. Now AZ Dept of Disabilities is involved & I guess they deal with MA for reimbursement.

My friends in CT adopted from MA DSS also. Child was already free & there was no bfamily. Even with homestudy & their having to do MAPP training, it was completed in just under 9 months.

I am also in MASS. So far I have had a great experience with DSS. I have adopted 2 girls. One I got at 3 and the other at 12 weeks. Each adoption took about 1.5 years to finalize. The social workers and lawyers were fantastic. Fell free to pm me if you have any questions, concerns or need to vent!
