Questions on negotiating an adoption subsidy in Texas
I hope someone can help me! My dh and I have been matched for 2 children ages 6 and 8 in Texas. We live in Mississippi. My daughter has a dx of PTSD and was hospitalized once recently for seven days for a serious tantrum and was diagnosed as being bi-polar. Our son has been dx with ADHD. I am a legal secretary, but would like to drop to part-time as I feel I would need to be home with them when they get out of school. My husband and I rely on both of our incomes. My children our Title IV-E eligible. How will I go about negotiating our subsidy and finding out what else we may be qualified for. Is there a way I can find out what the fostercare rate is for these children. I am not sure if the children's worker will give me that information. Any help you can give me will be appreciated.

Click on the below link. It has a lot of information and other links provided regarding adoption subsidy in TX.
Of note...a sw does have to disclose the rates and if she doesn't, then use the links and phone numbers provided in below's link to call DCSF etc. http://library.adoption.com/Subsidie...le/5590/2.html

Texas
They are known for boasting that they "negotiate" the subsidy amount ... long forms to fill out - including costs for one-time fees/expenses and then give you the standard amount anyways ... so don't fret too much over the paperwork involved ...
