Question Daycare for Foster Children

My huband and I are reconsidering changing from ADOPTION ONLY to FOSTER TO ADOPT. I am wondering how daycare works for children that are not school-age. Does CS have specific daycares for these children or do we need to lineup one on an on-call basis?

Hi,
No CS doesn't have specific day cares for foster-to-adopt children. You can pretty much enroll a child in any day care that has space available. The most difficult thing you will find is getting all the necessary paperwork together so the child CAN be enrolled. It takes a few days to a month to get vaccination records and the child can't attend a daycare without them.
Your best bet would be to speak with the agency and see if they have a list of childcare/respite providers and get that list. The people on that list are other foster parents who are probably more understanding of emergency placement situations.

Good Luck,
Kat

depends on the county.
in jefferson county, we are on our own.
if we do in-home daycare (or even babysitting) finger prints must be taken first.
