A little girl whom lives down the street is best friends with my daughter and is in the process of a court battle to live with her uncle whom isnt married and drinks all of the time. She is always very happy to be at our home and my husband and I would love to foster or care for her. Problem is-we dont even know where to begin and if we can just choose to foster her. If she doesnt get to live with her uncle she will go to a foster family, which we would love to be her foster parents. Is this possible to do or if we chose to be foster parents would we just get any child? Please advise.

I am still so very new to this so from what I have gathered. You will have to get your foster license first. They present possible children you could foster and you can either say yes or no. But I think if you know of a child already then you would have a good change of getting that child.
You might want to try getting ahold of DCFS in your county and they can help you get started. It doesnt cost anythign to get your license you just have to go to class I believe for 8 weeks, one night a week.

Contact a foster agency in your COUNTY ASAP ~ they will get you started, especially since you now first hand how she is treated, etc.

Does the uncle know where you live? Is there concern of the biological family contacting you or your family?
