Which agency?

I live in Brighton and I need advice. Which agencies should I consider and which should I stay away from?

I am new to this. I am wondering what the average out of pocket expense is for having one foster child? I just want to make sure I will have the funds to give this child everything they need.

Thanks

We have just started the proccess at Oakland Family Serivces (OFS) in Pontiac, just south of the Palace. We do not have any kids yet but have gone through all the training and chatted to a few of the FP's at OFS. OFS pays $14 per kid, which is standard around that state from what I hear. The state gives more for specials needs kids. The more time you have to spent caring for them, the more the state gives. There are didferent levels. Still it is more a service of love. The out of pocket expenses are still higher than what you bring in. It also really depends on the age of the kid and the other activities you have them doing. For infants you will need to buy diapers and formula. For older kids there will be sports programs and family outings.

Hope this helps.

Eric

Good Agency in Michigan

We are working with Kean Center for Adoption, in Dearborn. I like their honesty, I like their candeur, and they don't charge a lot and they answer your questions.

Saginaw FIA

Has anyone worked with the Saginaw FIA before? My hubby and I are just starting out and have our first orientation on Monday 2nd 2005 and want to have others opinions. We do not want to go through the wrong place for foster care.
