Infants in fostering to adopt??
Hi all!!!
My husband and I are in the middle of filling out our paperwork for the state and our social worker recently informed us that the chances of us getting an infant through the adoption program was incredibly slim. She suggested the foster to adopt program. She said that infants are placed with the foster families and the ones in the foster to adopt program get first chance to adopt when the birth parents sign over their parental rights. I was wondering what else y'all can tell me? Also, how many of y'all have gotten infants by doing the foster to adopt program?? Thank you!! His, MrsTU ![]() |

We just finalized our adoption of our baby girl about a month ago. She started out as a high risk adoption. She wasn't supposed to stay with us(God had other plans). She was supposed to go straight into an adoptive placement but since more things kept popping up that made her a high risk adoption they decided to put her into fostercare until their was less legal risk. We begged to keep her from the moment we were told about her. They told us that a family had already been picked for her....and it would only be temperary. Every week when the adoption worker would come visit her we begged and begged to keep her.(found out they never had a family picked out just a whole bunch of files to go through to figure out what home she would go to).
When she was 7 weeks old they finally told us they picked us to be her adoptive family. We got her at 5 days old straight from the hospital. They new how bonded we were to her and she to us....so they felt it was in her best interest to stay with us. YEEEAAH!!! We have been so blessed through fostering and adopting through the state. We got our boy when he was 3 years old (10 days before he turned 4) and finalized May 2004. He is now 5. We got our baby girl who is now 7 months and finalized Oct 2004. We also will be adopting our little girl who is 2 1/2 .... next year. She has been with us since she was 14 months. She isn't with us at the moment due to some false allegations made against us...but we will get her back hopefully by the end of the month when the investigation will be over.(hardest thing i've ever had to deal with...emotionally) That infertility stuff I endured was nothing compared to having YOUR baby taken away from you for something that you didn't do. I just can't wait for this to be all over and hold her in my arms again. I miss her so much. Good luck as you embark on this adventure.....it is difficult but it is soooooo worth it. |
