My hands are tied...

Ok, I have a situation here that I need help with...

Our son was placed with us last June. We are certified to adopt. We plan on adopting him. In August we submitted our packet for Fostercare. All requirements were met with the exception that DH did not take the required classes; due to the fact that classes are only offered during the hours that he works. It would be a financial hardship for us if he took the time off. The licensing agency has said that they will not issue us a license even if all of the other requirements have been met. This is an adoptive placement. We do not plan on taking in other foster children. We are pursuing a foster license to help with the expense of adding a child into our family. The therapist feels that our son is not yet emotionally ready to be adopted and that we should wait a little to finalize an adoption. This could take months. Any idea what we can do to get some financial help?

Isn't there money set aside for every foster child?
What happened to the money that they were already setting aside for him in his previous home?....I'm sooo confused

subsidy

the only way you can get the subsidy as a foster placement is if you are a licensed foster home OR you are a relative placement. You both have to complete them. If your husband does not have the vacation time to take that classes perhaps some alternative can be worked out but you'll have to contact the licensor or the agency that gives the classes. In most cases the child will come with no money set aside for them, and it is FOR THEM. In most cases it's all spent in taking care of the chld PLUS SOME. That is why it's neccesary that you be financially independent to become a foster home so that you're not counting on the child's payments to make your ends meet without the added financial burden of the child. It's for the added expenses that you will incur AFTER they are in you home. there's no trust to subsidize the parents loss of income while they take foster classes, at least not in my state.
