My husband and I are new to foster parenting in Richmond County. Is it normal to go a long time between placements? We received our first child in October and only had him for two weeks. My friend, who is also a foster parent, gets calls everyday seeking her to take children, but we get none. Is this normal?
We are a little confused about things and I am not sure what to do. I have tried calling my case manager, but rarely get her in person but only get her phone. Originally, we were doing foster/adopt but felt the need was greater for foster parents than adoptive parents but we now feel that we are not needed. Could it be because we are a Caucasian couple? We have indicated that we are open to children of all races, sex and up to age 7. I would appreciate any help I can get. T. |

Welcome to the board and the wonderful world of fostering! It may be that the placement worker does not think of you first since you are new. Find out who that is and make it a point of getting to know that person so that when a child comes into care they know that you are anxiously waiting for the call.
