Hello everyone!
I'm new here and think this site is wonderful. I have my 2 neices and 2 nephews that were taken into foster care. When we first got them, there case worker bought their clothing. This was when it was really hot. Now the weather is getting a little colder and I am concerned as to what I should do for their winter clothes. We do get a board payment and special board too but this covers the rise in food/eletric etc. Does Louisiana foster care give alloted clothing more than once a year? I appreciate any information you guys might have. Thanks, L |

We've had conflicting answers from social workers on the clothing allowance question. One told us that after the inital 300 dollar placement clothing allowance all clothes were to be purchased out of the monthly allotment. Then (a year later) another worker told us that the kids are suppose to get a large sum (300 again) twice a year after that for fall/winter then spring/summer. One worker told me that they would not pay for school uniforms then turned around a month later and told me to turn in all my receipts because I would be reimbursed. I don't get a straight answer. I often get the feeling they don't know what they are doing. Good luck.
Oh yeah, we just buy our fd whatever she needs and don't try to get reimbursed. We are lucky, i guess, that we are financially able to do that. |

please call your worker since all the states are different. in Seattle we get a clothing allowance quarterly and Treehouse has free clothes as well.

Our social worker bought our 1 year old 300 dollars worth of clothing when we first got her. Beyond that the only clothing allowance that is granted is if she had a huge growth spurt and grew out of everything she has. Her board rate is supposed to cover reasonable replacement of clothing according to our SW.
