I am interested in adopting from fostercare. Can anyone tell me about the licensing requirements and what a homestudy entails.

I would also like to know about the timeframe involved. I am interested in adopting a sibling group. Would this increase my chances or speed things up any? Any information will be apreciated.

I am interested in hearing about others experience with this with DCFS in Utah.

Has anyone done this before? Or had an adoption like this fall through? If so, why?

I'm a foster parent. It is ready not hard to get your lic. You have to go to classes ( I forgot how long)I think about ten weeks at three hours each. So 30 hours of training, you have to get a physical and c.p.r. training,and a drug test.You also have to have back ground checks and finger prints.(I think that is it??) The home study was not bad they just look at your home to make sure it is safe. They will look at the room for the child and my sw wanted pictures of the room and our yard and house.
In training you will have home work and lots of it. Just to learn about your family life and such. It is all to get to know you and to find out which child will fit you the best.
It all takes a while to go throgh with everything and you will get your lic. anywhere from a week to a couple of months after your home study is done. Good luck and have fun finding your little ones!
