Foster to adopt Homestudy for out of state adoption

Hi,
I have a PA foster to adopt homestudy. We would like to adopt a foster child with special needs in CA. Can this be done? Has anyone experienced this type of adoption? Can we us our current homestudy or do we have to pay for a new one? Please help! Thanks!

Out of State Placement

Interstate Compact (ICPC) monitors adoptions which cross state lines ... your PA homestudy if up to date should suffice. California is supposedly a great state to work with but do not believe they pay for post placement services (i.e. supervision visits/reports for the courts, travel for transition, reimbursement of alot of costs other states do pay) so you may need to verify you understand what the placing state (CA) will and will not be willing to provide. Adoption Assistance is available no matter where you live - again it's just a matter of paperwork completion (oh did I mean to say frustration!).

Hope this helps.

Question out of state adoption

Hello,
I am new to the adoption process and the Foster care system and I was wondering if you have received any info on your problem. We cannot seem to get the right homestudy done and we keep getting the run around. We live in VA and the Boy we want to adopt is in NJ. I guess the welfare of the child isn't the issue with anyone, more a state numbers game. You would think they would bend over backward to help get a placement but it is extremely the opposite. Help I am getting so sad and frustrated... Peace, Chris
