Some questions about Photolisting/DCFS
I just joined this message board this evening and so when I posted, I accidently posted under Foster Parent heading. Oops!
My husband and I started the adoption process 18 months ago, internationally. To make a long story short, our agency is saying another possible 15 months for a referral for children (Colombia, South America). We've decided to look into adoption domestically, through state DCFS of children available for adoption, on photolistings. We found children that we are interested in, so I e-mailed the caseworker and she asked us to send our homestudy (we are using a private agency, that did our homestudy), which we did on Tuesday. I had a few questions for the caseworker, since I am totally new to all of this... like "do you accept homestudies up to a certain amount of time, do you have interviews?" She just replied and said "We will be doing staffing on them during our Adoption Review Team this month." So what exactly happens???? If there are other families interested, do they look at all of the homestudies at that time? Do they gather homestudies up until that point? How long does it typically take from the time that they review the child's case in one of these meetings until they let the family that's interested, know anything? I'm thinking of calling her by next Friday which would be the last work day of the month.. I'm just new to this so ANY input would be wonderful.
Thank you!!!!!
Patty
