How helpful are the DSS?
How helpful are the DSS at getting adoptions through? Do they really care about getting you a child? Do they try to understand what you are looking for and call you accordingly? Will they call me in a certain order of a waiting list???

no, they care about getting a home for a child. that may be a temporary foster home, a place with bparents or brelatives or an adoptive home. the state system (at least they are supposed to) looks for the best place for a child to be. not about getting couples a child.

McKenna is correct.
DSS is not an adoption agency. Their purpose is not to find a child a for you. Their purpose is to help children, whether it be by reuniting the birthfamily, finding short or long term foster care, or maybe through adoption. Remember, their first goal is to reunite the family. If you are looking to DSS to help you find a child to adopt, you will end up very frustrated. |
